ABOUT ABOUT

AMERICAN CARNAGE: A LOVE STORY by Aimee Greenberg - a world premiere presented by fruitlessmoon theatreworks. An unlikely love story - part sci-fi and part thriller in a future where high technology manifests organically within humans and manufactured beings. 'YML' is from an evolved species and events trigger feelings he didn't expect to have. . .it’s a tale of alternate worlds examining the idea of what is human, where are the boundaries when senses have been removed. AMERICAN CARNAGE: A LOVE STORY presents a dystopian look at a future shaped by our current world.

Critics are saying:  "She's mounted a sobering intensely creative play. . . . Greenberg is as much its director as its choreographer, stylizing everywhere she can amid the piece's wholesale potential for kinetics and its linguistic disparities, which range from quasi-Elizabethan dialogue to postmodern voice. . .  What might at first seem like a battery of randomized thoughts is a highly original plumb." (Martin Jones Westlin for San Diego Story)

" . . . American Carnage:  A Love Story is an intelligent new work, and there's nothing artificial about that. . . Intellectually ambitious work . . . more global, indeed more universal, commentary about loss of freedom, individuality and sentient feelings. . . Delivered in mostly taut mini-scenes." (David L. Coddon for the San Diego Union-Tribune)

Theatregoers are saying:

" . . . To be able to witness such an ultra-modern and surreal work of this type in the San Diego area is indeed rare. It was a cornucopia of sensory experiences: language, choreography, music, sounds, projections and visually exciting stage sets" (P Uhler)

" . . .it's an original work of science fiction acted with a cast of extremely skilled actors, highlighted by some amazingly deft media tech and punctuated with truly beautiful monogues . . it couldn't be more topical.  Modern, experimental and thought provoking . . ." (SA Le Clair)
